Meet the Ideas Makers: Sam H.
Each month we profile some of the ideas makers within the Ideas Foundation community. From young people who have experienced one of our I AM CREATIVE programmes for the first time; to those that have progressed through the Future Creatives programme and now have a career in the creative industry.
We want to share their stories and inspire you to become part of a creative community where anyone with ideas is welcome. Allow us to introduce you to Sam Harris, who is now Operations Manager at Vertical Media.
How did you first get involved with Ideas Foundation?
I was introduced to the Ideas Foundation by my Marketing lecturer.
Tell us about your journey with Ideas Foundation.
While studying marketing I was given the opportunity to participate in a global competition of 43 Students competing against McCann’s marketing interns to create a new campaign for #worthliving 3.0.
Myself and three other students won the campaign pitch with our original idea “Thought Notes”, this formed the basis for the suicide prevention campaign “The Orange Project” http://worthliving.
How has Ideas Foundation benefitted you?
Winning the competition helped confirm my career direction, showing me how a purely academic campaign can be hugely successful when executed by the right people and agency.
What is the most valuable thing about Ideas Foundation for you ?
The Ideas Foundation provides a range of valuable career-boosting opportunities but by far the most valuable for me was pitching in front of experts and decision makers.
Gaining critical feedback from those at the top of their game is an education in itself.
How did Ideas Foundation help you to get where you are now?
They provided me with some fantastic CV experience. This subsequently helped land me a position as a Creative Lead at a London advertising agency.
